  • Thermal baths and hot springs: Bagno Vignoni is famous for its thermal baths, which have been used since ancient Roman times. The heart of the village is represented by a single square, which is occupied by a large pool of thermal water, instead of a traditional square. This tub is fed by the thermal springs that flow from the earth.
  • Piazza delle Sorgenti: The square of Bagno Vignoni, known as Piazza delle Sorgenti, is the focal point of the town. The thermal water basin located in the center is surrounded by historic buildings, including the Palazzo dei Bagni, the Church of San Giovanni Battista and various restaurants and shops.
  • Medieval Atmosphere: Bagno Vignoni has an enchanting atmosphere and a medieval look. The cobbled streets, the stone houses and the absence of cars contribute to the picturesque and peaceful atmosphere.
  • Natural landscape: The Val d’Orcia that surrounds this village is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is famous for its breathtaking landscapes. Green hills, wheat fields, cypresses and vineyards stretch on the horizon, creating a suggestive and characteristic panoramic view of Tuscany.

To visit Bagno Vignoni, you can follow these advice:

  1. Arriving by car: Bagno Vignoni can be reached by car. It is located about 50 kilometers south of Siena and about 120 kilometers southeast of Florence. It is advisable to rent a car to fully enjoy the surrounding landscape.
  2. Public transport: If you prefer not to drive, you can take a train to Chiusi-Chianciano Terme and from there a bus to the village. However, the public transport service may not be very frequent, so it is advisable to check the timetable in advance.
  3. Duration of the visit: Bagno Vignoni is a small village, so a half-day visit could be enough to explore the square of the springs, take a walk in the historic center and relax in the thermal baths.

What is the best time to visit?

As for the recommended periods to visit this village, spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) are ideal. During these times, temperatures are usually pleasant and there are fewer tourists.
