Itinerary on the Costa dei Trabocchi. A wild Reserve, a Sanctuary of "miracles" and an Abbey

In this itinerary we propose you to dedicate a day to the sight of three beautiful places that are located on the Costa dei Trabocchi, near Vasto.
The first stage of this itinerary sees a visit to the Punta Aderci nature reserve. Inside there are three of the most beautiful Abruzzo beaches: Punta Penna, Punta Aderci and Mottagrossa.

Dedicate time to a refreshing swim or snorkeling activity near the promontory of Punta Aderci, or rent a canoe or bicycle and walk part of the Via Verde on the Trabocchi cycle path.

From here move towards Casalbordino to visit one of the most loved and visited religious places in this part of Abruzzo: the Sanctuary of the Madonna dei Miracoli. Visit the church, the cave of the Apparition, the rooms dedicated to ex-votos and ask if it is possible to visit the library that contains ancient texts and manuscripts. If you have time, look for an oven and taste the famous Casalbordino grape jam tarallucci.

From here proceed north to arrive in the Fossacesia area where the Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere stands overlooking the sea and the Costa dei Trabocchi. Here, in addition to two beautiful viewpoints, visit the entire church, the crypt with frescoes from the 1200s and the beautiful and silent 13th-century cloister.
