The Veio Regional Park is located in the Lazio region, in the province of Rome, and extends over a vast area which also includes the territory of Castelnuovo di Porto. This park offers a fascinating combination of nature and history, and is a popular destination for those who want to spend time outdoors and discover important archaeological sites.

Here are some of the main characteristics of the Veio Park

  • Natural Environment: The park offers a variety of natural landscapes, including woods, meadows, rivers and hills. It is an ideal place for hiking, walking or cycling, and for enjoying the tranquility of nature.
  • Archaeological Sites: One of the most interesting features of the Veio Park is the presence of important archaeological sites. Veii was an ancient Etruscan city, and in the park it is possible to visit archaeological remains, including walls, tombs and settlements, which offer a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the history of ancient Rome.
  • Castelnuovo di Porto: This town is located within the park and is an ideal place to start your visit. Here you can find tourist information, restaurants and visitor services.
  • Hiking Routes: In the park there are numerous hiking trails of different lengths and difficulties. You can choose a route that suits your preferences and fitness level.
  • Recommended Periods: The Veio Park can be visited all year round, but spring and autumn are the ideal seasons to enjoy pleasant temperatures and fascinating landscapes. During the summer, temperatures can get very high, so it is advisable to bring water and sunscreen if you visit the park during that time.

To visit the Veio Park, you can reach it from Rome by car or train. From Rome’s train station you can take a train to Castelnuovo di Porto station, from where you can start your exploration. Be sure to get a park map or updated information at the Castelnuovo di Porto visitor center to plan your visit.

Remember to respect the natural environment and archaeological sites during your visit and to follow the park rules to preserve its beauty and history. For more information you can consult the official website of the park.
