Why visit the Gardens of Ninfa? The Gardens of Ninfa are a place of great beauty and charm, located in the Cisterna di Latina area, in the Lazio countryside a few kilometers from Rome. In this article you will also know what plants there are and how to reach to this place.

The gardens of Ninfa were created around the ruins of an ancient medieval village, and today they host an extraordinary variety of plants and flowers, which blend harmoniously with the remains of the old walls and ruined buildings.

It is an ideal place for those who love nature and history, and for those who want to spend a day immersed in the beauty of an uncontaminated landscape. Furthermore, the Gardens of Ninfa represent a very popular tourist destination also for their history and their historical-cultural value.

What plants there are in the Gardens of Ninfa?

The Gardens of Ninfa host a vast collection of plants and flowers, including rare and valuable species. You can admire specimens of roses, irises, peonies, gladioli, dahlias, lilacs, camellias, rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, hydrangeas, and many more.

Furthermore, there are also shrubs and trees, such as ginkgo biloba, sequoia, Atlas cedar, Japanese maple, yew, hazelnut, cypress, and many others.

The Gardens of Ninfa are also famous for the presence of a large variety of aquatic plants, such as water lilies, marsh irises, duckweed, and more. Furthermore, there are also numerous species of fat and succulent plants, such as agaves, aloes, cacti, and many others.

How to reach this place?

The Gardens of Ninfa are located in the Lazio countryside, a few kilometers from Rome. To reach them, you can use different modes of transport:

  • By car: you can reach the Gardens of Ninfa by car along the A1 motorway and taking the Fiano Romano exit. From there, follow the signs for the village of Cisterna di Latina and then for the Gardens of Ninfa.
  • By train: you can take the train to Fara Sabina-Rieti and get off at Fiano Romano station. From there, you can reach the Gardens of Ninfa by taxi or a shuttle service.
  • By bus: you can take a bus to Cisterna di Latina and get off at the Ninfa stop. From there, you can reach the Gardens of Ninfa on foot or with a shuttle service.

In any case, I advise you to check the timetables and frequencies of public transport before leaving, and to plan your trip in order to arrive at the Gardens of Ninfa a little in advance, to have time to fully enjoy the visit.
