Lake of Scanno: a marvel of nature

Thousands of people in the world will have seen photos like this. The famous Lake of Scanno, “the heart-shaped” say tourists and all lovers of Abruzzo. But from which place is it possible to see it like this? Just follow the “Path of the Heart”.

Where are we?

We are located in Abruzzo within the complex mountain group of the Marsican Mountains and more precisely in the middle of the long mountain ridge that originates from the Grande Mountain continues to the Serra della Terrata, that of Campitello, the Monte della Corte and culminates with the elevation of the Monte Marsicano. On this mountain ridge passes the northeastern border of the Abruzzo National Park L. and M. We are in the territory of the Municipality of Scanno.

Presentation of the itinerary

Short walk suitable for everyone that arrives close to the Lake Scanno (discover here) and that reaches first the Hermitage of S. Egidio, a place so dear to the Scannesi that every year celebrate the saint who recognize the miracle of having freed the country from the plague of 1656, and then the most beautiful panoramic spot on Lake Scanno from where you can admire it in its beautiful heart shape. Excursion highly recommended that with a minimum effort allows you to admire and appreciate the scenic and natural beauty of one of the most beautiful areas of Abruzzo.

Lake Scanno – Eremo S. Egidio (Scanno), in Abruzzo – panoramic point of the “Path of the Heart” (find out the details here)
