The ancient village of Collodi is located in Tuscany, in the province of Pistoia. The village was already present in the 12th century, its origin is medieval and, like the other villages of the time, it was built for military reasons. That is, in an elevated position on the hill to escape from external attacks by enemies. For this reason, the village of Collodi presents itself to the traveler as an expanse of small houses perched on a slope.

A visit to a perfectly preserved village

The Ancient Rocca and the majestic Villa Garzoni still stand on the ruins of the ancient medieval castle. Walking through the narrow streets of the town you will notice the perfect state of preservation of the village with the stones still paving the small streets in the middle of the houses that will make you jump into the Middle Ages. You will also meet some remains of the fortified structures. You will see the Rocca which still has a large enclosure with some towers. One of these is currently a bell tower.

Climbing up on the village you will arrive at the Foot of San Bartolomeo which will give you a breathtaking view. The small village of Collodi is currently a very visited tourist center both for the Villa Garzoni and the Italian Garden, the Butterfly House and for the renowned and visited Pinocchio Park.
