Lake Sinizzo is a lake of glacial origin located in the upper valley of the Aterno river, in the province of L’Aquila, in Abruzzo, Italy. It is located at about 1500 meters above sea level and its surface is about 0.2 km².

The lake is surrounded by a natural landscape of great beauty, with green meadows and beech and silver fir forests. The area around the lake is an ideal destination for hiking or mountain biking. It has paths leading to panoramic peaks, such as Mount Cefalone and Mount Bolza.

Lake Sinizzo is also a popular spot for sport fishing, with numerous fish species including trout, grayling, perch and whitefish. Furthermore, the area around the lake is known for the production of high quality cheeses, such as the pecorino canestrato di Castel del Monte, which can be tasted in the local restaurants.

When is the best time to visit Lake Sinizzo?

The best time to visit Lake Sinizzo depends on the activities you want to do. If you want to go hiking or mountain biking, the best time is from June to September, when the weather is mild and the days are longer.

If you want to fish instead, the best period is from May to October, when the water temperatures are more suitable for sport fishing. However, it is always advisable to check local regulations for sport fishing before going.

Finally, if you want to taste the local cheeses, the best period is during the autumn, when the aged cheeses reach their maximum quality. In any case, Lake Sinizzo is an ideal destination for nature and tranquility lovers, who want to spend time immersed in the beauty and serenity of the Abruzzo nature.
