Lake Fogliano is a place of extraordinary beauty! Located in the province of Latina, this artificial lake is surrounded by unspoiled nature and offers a breathtaking view of the Circeo National Park and is part of the Fogliano-Laghi di Fogliano, Monaci and Caprolace District Nature Reserve.

It is an oasis of peace and tranquillity, where you can go hiking, fishing and enjoy the beauty of nature. With its crystal clear waters and luxuriant vegetation, Lake Fogliano is a real jewel of the province of Latina.

It is also home to a wide variety of plant and animal species, including aquatic birds, amphibians and reptiles. An ideal place for nature lovers, Lake Fogliano is a real hidden treasure that deserves to be discovered!

When is the best time to visit Lake Fogliano?

The best time to visit it depends on the activities you want to do and the climatic conditions you prefer. Generally, spring and autumn are the best times to visit the lake, as the climate is mild and nature is particularly luxuriant. At these times of year, you can admire the wildflowers and migratory birds that stop by the lakeshore.

Summer however, brings a climate that is hot and dry and the water of the lake is warm, perfect for swimming and water sports. In winter, the lake may be frozen and outdoor activities may be limited. How to reach the lake?

There are several ways to reach Lake Fogliano:

  • Car: The lake is easily accessible by car from the main cities of the Lazio region, such as Rome and Naples. It is advisable to use a GPS navigator to find the fastest and most comfortable route.
  • Train: The station closest to the lake is that of Aprilia, which is about 30 kilometers away. From the station, it is possible to take a bus or a taxi to reach the lake.
  • Plane: The closest airport to the lake is Fiumicino, about 100 km away. From the airport, it is possible to take a train or a bus to reach Aprilia and then continue with a taxi or a bus to reach the lake.

Regardless of the means of transport chosen, it is always advisable to check the timetables and fares before leaving and organize the trip in time.

What to visit nearby?

Lake Fogliano is located in a privileged position, surrounded by unspoiled nature and close to many interesting tourist attractions. Here are some of the things you can visit near the lake:

  • Aprilia: The city of Aprilia is located a few kilometers from the lake and offers a great variety of attractions, including the Civic Museum, the Baronial Castle and the Urban Park.
  • Latina: The city of Latina is the capital of the province and is famous for its history and culture. There you can visit the Archaeological Museum and the Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli.
  • Monti Ausoni Regional Park: The Monti Ausoni regional park is a protected area that offers a wide variety of excursions and outdoor activities, including trekking and birdwatching.
  • Nettuno: The city of Neptune is famous for its history and geographical location. There you can visit the Marine Museum and the Roman Amphitheater.
  • Sabaudia: The city of Sabaudia is famous for its long and sandy beach and its pine forest. There you can take a walk along the beach and enjoy the sea.
